A Total of 814 Vehicles Supported
with a Budget of 2.4 Billion KRW
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province is implementing a support program for the early scrapping of old vehicles.
According to the city on the 24th, this project will provide support for a total of 814 vehicles with a budget of 2.4 billion KRW. It targets grade 4 diesel vehicles, grade 5 vehicles, and certain types of road construction machinery, aiming to reduce fine dust emissions.
Eligible vehicles include grade 4 diesel vehicles, grade 5 vehicles, road-use type 3 construction machinery (dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks, concrete pump trucks) manufactured before August 31, 2009 under previous emission standards, and forklifts and excavators manufactured before December 31, 2004.
This year, grade 5 emission vehicles can apply for the early scrapping program regardless of fuel type, and the basic (scrapping) support rate for grade 5 vehicles under 3.5 tons of total weight has been raised to 100%.
Additionally, when purchasing a new vehicle (excluding used cars), an extra 50% subsidy will be provided. The city will also cover the inspection fee for confirming eligibility for early scrapping (14,000 KRW per vehicle), and a new ownership period requirement (vehicles owned for more than six months) has been established for additional support for small business owners.
To apply for the early scrapping support, vehicles must have been continuously registered in Jeongeup City for at least six months. Applications can be submitted in person at the city's Resource Circulation Division, by registered mail, or online through the Integrated Vehicle Emissions Information System.
A city official stated, "With the expanded eligibility and increased subsidy rates, more citizens are expected to benefit from this program," and added, "We encourage active participation to help maintain a clean air environment."
