Detention Warrant Requested for Man Who Tried to Break Into Chinese Embassy and Police Station
A detention warrant has been requested for a supporter of President Yoon Seok-yeol who was arrested for damaging the police station door.
On the 22nd, Seoul Namdaemun Police Station announced that it had applied to the Seoul Central District Court the previous day for a detention warrant against a man in his 40s, Mr. An, on charges of damaging public property and attempted trespassing of a building.
Mr. An is suspected of kicking and damaging the glass door of the entrance to Namdaemun Police Station while wearing a military uniform around 11 p.m. the previous day. It is known that he committed the act after visiting the police station and demanding to be investigated quickly, but was refused.
Mr. An was previously arrested and released on charges of attempted trespassing after trying to break into the Embassy of China in Korea on the 14th while dressed as Captain America.
A police official stated, "We have applied for a detention warrant including all charges related to the attempted break-ins at the Embassy of China in Korea and the police station."
