Uiseong-gun Takes Steps to Eliminate Blind Spots in Healthcare Services

Re-investigation of Recipients Ahead of the Introduction of the Integrated Elderly Medical and Care Judgment System
Strengthening Personalized Medical and Care Support... 51 Additional Recipients Selected

Uiseong-gun, Gyeongbuk held a meeting to re-investigate healthcare and medical care recipients ahead of the early introduction of an integrated judgment system for elderly medical and care services. This meeting was organized as a measure to respond to the Ministry of Health and Welfare's integrated medical and care support policy scheduled for 2025.

Uiseong-gun Takes Steps to Eliminate Blind Spots in Healthcare Services Gyeongbuk Uiseong-gun Public Health Center is holding a meeting to review healthcare recipients.

The core of this policy is to introduce an integrated judgment system that includes not only the elderly but also people with disabilities, comprehensively assessing and supporting the need for medical and care services.

The county plans to implement this judgment system early from March, classifying and linking recipients into appropriate service groups such as specialized medical care, nursing hospitals, long-term care, and local government care according to their medical and care needs, thereby strengthening personalized support.

However, since submitting a doctor's opinion is mandatory during the preliminary evaluation, concerns were raised about reduced accessibility for new recipients.

Accordingly, the Public Health Center's Health Care Team first reviewed 287 individuals currently using care services but not receiving healthcare support (priority care recipients grades 1 to 3, 204 discharged patients, and 83 who have ended healthcare services). Among them, 59 individuals urgently needing healthcare support were selected for in-depth discussion.

The meeting was attended by 13 people, including the head of the Public Health Center, the director of health promotion, the head of the visiting health team, one medical doctor and one Korean medicine public health doctor each, and two public health officials dedicated to medical care.

Kim Jusu, the mayor of Uiseong-gun, emphasized, "We will thoroughly manage to ensure that those in need of medical and care services are not left out through this re-investigation," and added, "We will proactively prepare for the nationwide implementation of the integrated elderly medical and care support project scheduled for 2026."

Meanwhile, after carefully reviewing the medical needs and support plans of the recipients, the attendees finalized 51 individuals as healthcare support recipients. These recipients will receive public and private medical services after re-submission at the integrated support meeting at the end of February.
