First Female President Elected in 55 Years Since Association's Founding
The Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) announced on the 21st that at the 55th regular general meeting held at the Construction Hall in Gangnam, Seoul, Yoon Young-mi, Chairwoman of Highland Food Group, was elected as the 23rd president.
Newly appointed President Yoon Young-mi stated, "KOIMA will do its best to create new opportunities where import is balanced alongside export in policy interests, so that member companies of the Importers Association can receive fair treatment and support, thereby enhancing their pride."
Chairwoman Yoon is a self-made female CEO who founded Highland Food Group in 1999 and grew it into the number one company in South Korea's meat import market, achieving sales of 1.15 trillion KRW in 2023.
She has been actively involved in trade and economic fields, serving as the 21st and 22nd vice president of KOIMA, vice president of the Korea Federation of SMEs, the 31st and 32nd director of the Korea International Trade Association, and vice president of the Korea Trade and Commerce Society. She also contributes to academic development by serving as vice president of the Sungkyunkwan University Alumni Association and Business Forum, as well as president of the Sungkyunkwan University Trade Department Doctoral Alumni Association.
