On the 20th (local time), President Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, which he founded, "This morning I called our great U.S. ice hockey team to encourage them to win tonight's game against Canada."

He added, "Someday, maybe soon, Canada will become our precious and very important 51st state with much lower taxes and stronger security."

The ice hockey match between the two countries mentioned by President Trump refers to the final of the 'Four Nations Tournament' held that day. Since the 12th, four countries including Sweden and Finland have participated in this tournament conducted in a full league format, with the U.S. and Canada ranking first and second respectively, leading to the final match in Boston.

During the full league match between the U.S. and Canada held on the 15th in Montreal, Canada, Canadian spectators, angered by President Trump's provocations, booed when the U.S. national anthem played, and a brawl broke out between players of both teams during the game.

President Trump said, "I am scheduled to speak at the U.S. Republican Governors Association meeting held tonight in Washington, D.C., so unfortunately I cannot attend the final." He added, "However, we will all be watching, and if Governor Trudeau wants to attend the Governors Association meeting, he will be most welcome."
