First ROK-U.S. Combined Air Exercise of the Year
with Deployment of U.S. Strategic Bomber
The Ministry of National Defense announced on the 20th that South Korea and the United States conducted a combined air exercise with the deployment of the U.S. B-1B strategic bomber.
This exercise was the first "Combined Air Exercise under the Deployment of U.S. Strategic Bombers" conducted this year. The U.S. Air Force's B-1B strategic bombers, F-16 fighters, and the Republic of Korea Air Force's F-35A and F-15K fighters participated.
The combined air exercise was conducted to demonstrate the United States' extended deterrence capability against North Korea's advancing nuclear and missile threats and to strengthen the interoperability of combined ROK-U.S. forces.
The Ministry of National Defense stated, "Based on close cooperation between South Korea and the United States, we will continue to expand combined exercises to deter and respond to North Korean threats and further strengthen the ROK-U.S. alliance cooperation."
