Gangnam District Council Approves Five New Research Groups
Focusing on Sports Promotion, Media Addiction Prevention,
Education Policy, Housing Welfare, and Neighborhood Parks

The Gangnam District Council of Seoul announced on the 20th that it approved the registration and research plans of five research groups on the 19th, including the Gangnam-gu Sports Promotion Research Group, Media Addiction Prevention Research Group, Education Policy Governance, Gangnam-gu Housing Welfare Research Group, and Research Group for Improvement Plans to Revitalize Small Neighborhood Parks, allowing these groups to commence their activities.

On the 20th, the Gangnam District Council held the Research Group Operation Deliberation Committee (Chairman Lee Dong-ho) to review the results of the council members' research groups' activities in the second half of 2024 and the registration and activity plans for 2025.


The newly formed council members' research groups are each led by council members Bok Jin-kyung, Son Min-gi, Woo Jong-hyuk, Han Yoon-soo, and Hwang Young-gak. The five research groups will conduct research projects aligned with their respective research topics aimed at seeking constructive alternatives, and will carry out research activities including kickoff meetings, interim reports, final reports, and submission of result reports by the end of the year.


At the operation committee meeting, members heard about the achievements and key research contents from the representatives of the council members' research groups: Drug and Harmful Substance Eradication Measures Research Group (Representative Son Min-gi), Data Gangnam Research Forum (Representative Lee Do-hee), Gangnam Vision 100 (Representative Yoon Seok-min), Gangnam-gu Efficient Financial Management Policy Research TF (Representative Noh Ae-ja), and Yangjaecheon South Public Transportation Usage Survey Research Group (Representative Kim Hyung-gon). The committee approved the result reports of these research groups as originally proposed. The research outcomes will be utilized for establishing effective policies and enacting ordinances that residents can tangibly experience.


Chairman Lee Dong-ho of the operation committee stated, “I hope that through the activities of the council members' research groups in 2025, members will have opportunities to enhance their expertise and conduct in-depth research on various issues in Gangnam-gu.” He added, “We will continue to provide necessary support in various ways to strengthen the legislative capabilities and expertise of council members.”
