On the 19th, Seongsimdang announced through its official social media channels (SNS) that it will open 'Seongsimdang Sandwich,' a store specializing in sandwiches, in the basement of its main branch on the 22nd.
Seongsimdang stated, "Many customers have shown great love for the sandwiches at our main and other branches, so we decided to open a 'Seongsimdang Sandwich' store in the basement of the main branch." They added, "We are working hard to meet our customers quickly, so we ask for your great interest when we open." However, they also mentioned, "The opening date may be delayed depending on construction progress and production circumstances."
In response to this news, netizens commented, "Another reason to visit Daejeon," "Should I check KTX tickets right away?" "I will go to eat the sandwiches," and "Daejeon residents are so lucky."
Seongsimdang's signature products include fried soboro and buchu bread, but the popularity of their sandwich products is no less. In particular, the 'Gogi Hanssam Sandwich,' launched two years ago, became a hot topic for containing a substantial amount of meat between the bread at a price under 6,000 won.
Founded in 1956, Seongsimdang is a well-known bakery in the Daejeon area. In 2023, it became the first single bakery brand to surpass 100 billion won in annual sales, establishing itself as a representative local brand. Seongsimdang operates under the principle of "selling bread only in Daejeon," and thus has branches only in Daejeon.
As people from all over the country flock to eat Seongsimdang's bread, the number of stores is also expanding. In October last year, in response to the popularity of fried soboro, they opened the first 'Twiso Jeonggeo Jang,' a takeout specialty store for fried soboro. Currently, there are six Seongsimdang stores where you can buy bread: Seongsimdang Main Branch, Seongsimdang Cake Boutique, Seongsimdang DCC Branch, Seongsimdang Twiso Jeonggeo Jang, Seongsimdang Lotte Department Store Daejeon Branch, and Seongsimdang Daejeon Station Branch.
