The bank employee suspected a voice phishing crime while conversing with a customer who came to withdraw a large amount of checks earlier this month and requested assistance from the police.

Together with the responding police officer, the employee managed to persuade the victim, who had been deceived by a voice phishing organization impersonating the Financial Supervisory Service with the promise of "protecting assets from crime," and was about to cash out and hand over assets worth approximately 100 million won, thereby preventing the crime.

The bank employee stated, "I am very proud to have been able to protect the customer's assets. This experience will motivate me to work even harder to safeguard customer assets in the future."

Chief Song Giju emphasized, "As voice phishing crimes are becoming increasingly diverse and sophisticated, and the amounts involved are growing, the role of bank employees, who are the first to interact with victims, is crucial. I ask that you continue to work together with Gwangyang Police to prevent crime victimization."
