Gyeonggi Province conducted safety inspections at 10 apartment construction sites within the province from the 3rd to the 13th to prevent safety accidents at multi-family housing construction sites during the thawing season, addressing 159 identified issues.
The inspections were carried out together with private experts in the fields of architecture, safety, and civil engineering.
The main inspection items included ▲checking for deformation, corrosion, and damage of formwork and props materials ▲measures to prevent construction machinery overturning due to ground subsidence ▲safety accident prevention measures for vulnerable facilities during the thawing season such as forest land, cut slopes, and underground excavation.
To ensure thorough safety inspections, Gyeonggi Province deployed drones to inspect sections that private experts found difficult to visually check during inspections of vulnerable areas in the thawing season, such as retaining walls, stone walls, and underground earth retaining structures.

During this inspection, Gyeonggi Province identified a total of 159 issues, including 64 in architecture, 45 in safety, and 50 in civil engineering.
Key issues by category included insufficient reinforcement of prop verticality and lack of measures to prevent U-head eccentricity, absence of safety railings to prevent falls during slope work, lack of drainage channels for earth retaining structures on slopes, and failure to install protective covers on slopes.
Hong Il-young, Director of the Multi-family Housing Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Mountainous areas have complex terrain, and during the thawing season, the ground weakens, increasing the risk of collapse or subsidence accidents, making safety management at construction sites more important than anything else." He added, "By utilizing drones, we plan to safely and swiftly investigate hazardous areas that are difficult to access directly on site."
