Damyang County, Jeonnam Province, announced on the 19th that it had installed the artificial intelligence (AI) care robot "Dasomi" in 23 households at high risk of dementia from the 17th to the 18th, and will provide related services.
This project is being carried out by the Damyang Dementia Relief Center to strengthen dementia prevention and care services, and will provide customized care services to high-risk households through Dasomi.
Dasomi recognizes voice commands, supports simple conversations, and facilitates social interaction for dementia patients, thereby helping smooth communication between patients and their families. In addition, it enables efficient care by monitoring patients' conditions in real time, which is expected to greatly contribute to dementia prevention and management.
Since 2022, the county has introduced and operated 60 care robots. Last year, it supported residents' health promotion and dementia prevention through non-face-to-face counseling, four home visit monitoring sessions, and the broadcast of dementia prevention exercise and health-related videos three times a week.
An official from the county said, "The Dementia Relief Center provides various care services for households at high risk of dementia," and emphasized, "We will continue to seek various ways to improve the quality of dementia prevention and management through Dasomi."
