Gyeonggi-do Produces 92,000 Copies of Elevator Safety Management Guidelines Leaflet

Gyeonggi Province has produced promotional materials on elevator management guidelines targeting elevator management entities such as apartment management offices to prevent poor elevator management.

The four-page promotional material includes ▲mandatory obligations of management entities and fines for violations ▲management entity response guidelines in case of elevator accidents (malfunctions) ▲frequently asked questions, and other key information that management entities need to know. Additionally, a total of six educational videos are included, allowing management entities to watch the training videos via QR codes.

Gyeonggi Province plans to produce 92,000 copies of the promotional materials and distribute them to elevator management entities through the Korea Elevator Safety Agency (inspectors) during the annual regular elevator inspections.

Lee Jong-don, Director of the Safety Management Office of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Elevators are essential means of transportation in daily life, and when accidents or malfunctions occur, the damage affects the residents. We will do our best to prevent poor elevator management and actively guide the obligations and action guidelines of management entities to create a safe elevator usage environment."

Meanwhile, last year in the province, 14 serious elevator accidents resulted in 3 deaths and 12 injuries. The most common cause of accidents was user negligence (6 cases), while the rest are either under investigation or caused by worker negligence.
