Cowintech Signs Supply Contract for 46 Battery Assembly and Activation Process Automation System

Smart factory automation system company Cowintech (CEO Jaehwan Lee and Gap-yong Jung) announced on the 18th that it has secured an order for an automated assembly and activation system for cylindrical 46-pi (46mm diameter cylindrical) batteries worth approximately 32 billion KRW.

Through this order, Cowintech plans to supply the assembly and activation process automation system to a global major battery manufacturer in two phases. Of the total 32 billion KRW scale, the company has recently received a purchase order (PO) worth about 16 billion KRW for the first phase and expects to receive the second phase order in the second half of the year, the company explained.

Earlier, in January, Cowintech signed a supply contract for an electrode process automation system for cylindrical 46-pi batteries. By securing this assembly and activation process order, Cowintech stated that it will provide turnkey supply for major manufacturing processes.

Cowintech has been actively entering the next-generation battery market, including all-solid-state batteries and cylindrical batteries, since last year.

A Cowintech representative said, "In addition to automation systems, we have been recognized for our control of transfer robots and ultra-precision docking technology in the global market, securing supply contracts for autonomous mobile robots (AMR). As orders for automation robots are increasing, we plan to focus on expanding business by industry starting this year."

Cowintech added, "This year, we expect an expansion of orders across related business sectors due to the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and increased demand for energy storage systems (ESS). Together with our subsidiary Top Material, which holds references and technological capabilities in the LFP battery field, we will secure solid order momentum in each business area including lithium iron phosphate (LFP) materials, equipment, and engineering to drive growth."
