Securing 3 Billion KRW in National Funding if Selected
Asan City in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 18th that it will participate in the Ministry of Environment's ecological trail project competition to utilize the ecological resources of the Gokgyocheon stream.
The city plans to submit its application within this month, and the results are expected to be announced in May.
If selected, the city will secure 3 billion KRW in national funding. The city plans to begin designing the ecological trail next year, aiming for completion in 2028.
A city official stated, "Gokgyocheon is a valuable ecological resource where nature and people can coexist," and added, "We will do our best to preserve its ecological characteristics and develop sustainable utilization plans."
Meanwhile, Gokgyocheon is home to a variety of flora and fauna thanks to its naturally formed riverbanks and wetlands. Under Gangcheonggyo Bridge, there is also a colony of silver grass, making it a popular photo spot with a spectacular silver wave in autumn.
