Kim Young-cheol, Chief of Changwon Maritime Police Station, recently inspected the emergency response posture in the jurisdiction to prepare for the consecutive fishing boat capsizing and sinking accidents occurring at sea near Jeju and Yeosu.
On the weekend of the 16th, Chief Kim visited Masan Police Substation and the rescue team to check the status of fishing boat departures and the security demand situation by sea area, and encouraged the staff on duty.
At Wonjeon Port, the central area of Jinhae Bay, the rescue team was deployed forward, and the operational status of the rescue team and their emergency dispatch response posture were confirmed.

Chief Kim emphasized, “Recently, safety accidents involving fishing boats have been occurring due to abnormal weather conditions. To respond proactively, the alert and prepared attitude of field workers is more important than anything else.”
He also urged, “Please continue to do your best in responding to situations to prevent maritime safety accidents.”
Earlier, the Korea Coast Guard designated the period from the 13th to March 15th as a special maritime safety alert period and issued a special maritime safety alert to prepare for maritime accidents caused by recent bad weather.
In accordance with the special maritime safety alert, Changwon Maritime Police plans to strengthen maritime safety measures and responses within its jurisdiction.
