Daejeon City Councilor Lee Geumseon Calls for Safe Commute Measures for Neulbom School Elementary Students Geumson Lee, Daejeon City Council Member / City Council

The Education Committee of the Daejeon City Council announced on the 17th that it had approved, as originally proposed, the "Ordinance on the Operation of Neulbom School by the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education," which was initiated by Lee Geumseon (People Power Party, Yuseong-gu 4).

The ordinance was jointly proposed by Lee and 12 other council members to establish an institutional foundation necessary for the operation of Neulbom School.

Lee stated, "Starting this year, the existing elementary school 'after-school' and 'care' programs will be integrated and operated under a single 'Neulbom School' system," adding, "By institutionalizing the Neulbom School project, which has been implemented in a legal blind spot, its effectiveness will be ensured."

She continued, "The ordinance includes policies to prevent the recurrence of incidents like the elementary school student's death on the 10th, such as requiring safety management in the Neulbom School operation plan and providing a basis for the student safe return home support project," emphasizing, "We expect legislative effects in promoting a Neulbom School project that guarantees student safety."

The ordinance is scheduled to be submitted to the 2nd plenary session of the 284th extraordinary meeting on the 20th.
