Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture
Launches 'Seoul Mecenat Support Project'
Matching Corporate Sponsorships for Arts Organizations
Up to 20 Million KRW in Support per Organization
On the 17th, the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture announced that it is recruiting companies and arts organizations to participate in the 'Seoul Mecenat Support Project,' which encourages corporate sponsorship of culture and arts and strengthens a stable foundation for artistic creation.
Through this project, the foundation will provide matching support of up to 100% of the amount sponsored by companies to arts organizations, up to 20 million KRW. Companies and arts organizations wishing to apply can do so starting today through the Seoul Arts Support System.
The 'Seoul Mecenat Support Project' is a representative public-private partnership project of the foundation that promotes corporate social contribution activities through culture and arts and expands support for artistic creation. Eligible applicants are arts organizations that have confirmed corporate sponsorship and are scheduled to present artworks in Seoul this year. Support is available across various genres including theater, dance, music, traditional arts, multi-disciplinary arts, visual arts, and literature. Matching support is provided for donations from up to two companies per artwork, with a minimum donation of 5 million KRW per company.
The foundation stated that last year, a total of 29 arts organizations participated in this project, attracting corporate donations of 450 million KRW and providing a total of 340 million KRW in foundation support. It also added that over the past five years, it has attracted donations from 130 companies totaling 3.8 billion KRW, actively driving corporate social contribution activities through culture and arts.
Song Hyung-jong, CEO of the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, said, "The Seoul Mecenat Support Project is a business model in which the foundation collaborates with companies to strengthen the artistic creation ecosystem as an alternative to overcoming the limitations of supporting artistic creation solely through public funding. Going forward, the foundation will develop various support models that enable more active corporate social contribution activities through arts and create a support system where companies and arts can grow together."
