Egypt Preparing Alternative to Trump's 'Gaza Initiative'... "To Be Revealed on 27th"

Plan to Establish a Support Committee Excluding Hamas

Egypt is reportedly preparing an alternative plan to U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal to turn the Gaza Strip in Palestine into a U.S.-owned "Riviera of the Middle East," in collaboration with the World Bank, according to the British daily The Guardian on the 16th (local time).

This alternative is expected to include a support committee composed of Gaza Strip officials and civil society representatives, which would temporarily oversee reconstruction and control, excluding the Palestinian armed faction Hamas. The support committee is planned to be made up of independent officials and representatives from civil society organizations and unions, designed to prevent domination by any particular faction.

Arab countries are set to discuss this alternative prepared by Egypt at the Arab Summit to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the 27th, and are expected to disclose parts of its contents.

Arab countries led by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar are reportedly preparing financial proposals to secure funds for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, on the premise that the residential rights of Palestinians within Gaza must be guaranteed. Currently, about 65% of the Gaza Strip is destroyed, and reconstruction is expected to take at least three to five years.

Anwar Gargash, a senior diplomatic advisor from the UAE, recently described Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League (AL), calling for Hamas to step down from the Gaza Strip administration as "appropriate and reasonable."

Secretary-General Aboul Gheit argued that President Trump's plan for Palestinian migration would threaten peace and stability in the region, emphasizing that the interests of Palestinians should take precedence over those of Hamas.

The Palestinian Authority (PA), which governs the West Bank, does not support Egypt's plan to establish a regional support committee in Gaza due to concerns over a permanent division between the West Bank and Gaza Strip. A representative from Fatah, the leading faction in the PA, stated that they have refused discussions regarding the establishment of the Gaza regional support committee.
