Additional 50,000 KRW Support for Parents of Children Aged 4 to 5
Reducing the Financial Burden on Families
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Acting Superintendent Choi Yunhong) announced on the 17th that it will provide the 2025 academic year Nuri Curriculum tuition support for children aged 3 to 5 enrolled in public and private kindergartens and daycare centers.
This is to ensure equal educational opportunities at the starting point of life and to reduce the financial burden on parents.
The support amount is 150,000 KRW per child for public kindergartens (100,000 KRW for the curriculum, 50,000 KRW for after-school programs) and 350,000 KRW per child for private kindergartens and daycare centers (280,000 KRW for the curriculum, 70,000 KRW for after-school programs). Foreign children with foreign nationality who have completed foreigner (residence) registration and are enrolled in public or private kindergartens will receive the same support as Korean nationals.
Additionally, children from legally low-income families (basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class, single-parent families) attending private kindergartens who meet the eligibility for tuition support can receive additional low-income tuition support of up to 200,000 KRW per child per month within actual expenses.
In particular, for the 2025 academic year, to reduce the burden on parents, an additional 50,000 KRW in educational expenses will be provided to children aged 4 to 5 among those eligible for tuition and childcare fee support. In the 2026 academic year, support will be expanded to cover all ages 3 to 5 in the Nuri Curriculum.
Guardians of children eligible for tuition and low-income support must apply in advance by visiting the community service center or online through 'Bokjiro' by 4:00 PM on February 28 (6:00 PM for community service center visits).
However, guardians of foreign children must visit the kindergarten directly to submit the tuition application form and submit supporting documents such as the foreigner registration card within one month.
Acting Superintendent Choi Yunhong stated, “The Office of Education will do its best to reduce parents’ educational expenses and ensure practical educational opportunities through expanded additional tuition support.”
