Students from Jeonju University Department of Technology Management and Engineering Donate 'Solar Smart Shade'

Utilizing Eco-Friendly Energy Technology

Students from the Department of Technology Management Engineering, Minerva School at Jeonju University, class of 2021, have created and donated a 'Solar Smart Shade' to their campus in celebration of their graduation.

According to Jeonju University on the 17th, this project was the result of students directly planning the idea, starting with a capstone design class, followed by engineering design, production, and installation. It stands out as a representative case where technology and practicality are combined.

The solar smart shade, utilizing eco-friendly energy technology, is powered by solar panels and features an automatic opening and closing function. It can be automatically controlled according to environmental conditions by sensing light intensity and wind speed.

In addition, it maximizes practicality by including the ability for users to charge their phones and laptops. The design also stands out for its user convenience, as it includes a manual control option.

The students from the Department of Technology Management Engineering, Minerva School, who participated in this project, said, "As we approach graduation, we are proud to leave a meaningful gift for our campus using the skills we have learned," and added, "We hope the solar smart shade will enhance student convenience and contribute to raising awareness of the importance of eco-friendly technology."

Professor Jang Hyunae of the Department of Technology Management Engineering at Jeonju University said, "This was a great example of students planning and realizing their ideas themselves, allowing them to build not only technical skills but also practical experience," and added, "We will continue to actively support creative student projects that can contribute to everyday life."

Meanwhile, the Minerva School at Jeonju University is growing as a university for adult learners who combine work and study, actively adopting project-based classes that integrate learning with real-world experience, and fostering problem-solving leaders through these initiatives.
