Gyeonggi Province is recruiting companies to participate in the 'Light Job' project aimed at expanding job opportunities for the Baby Boomer generation.
Light Job is a new middle-aged job brand of Gyeonggi Province, referring to jobs that are light in workload but revalue the worth of Baby Boomers and companies.
The project supports companies in the province that hire Baby Boomers aged 50 to 64 for Light Jobs working 24 to 35 hours per week, providing 400,000 KRW per person per month for up to three years to cover expenses.
Interested companies can apply from the 19th of this month until April 30th through Gyeonggi Province's job platform 'Jobaba Apply' (apply.jobaba.net).
Baby Boomers seeking Light Jobs can check the recruitment information of participating companies from the 5th of next month through Jobaba Apply, Danggeun Market, and the Employment 24 platform.
In a preliminary demand survey for the Light Job project conducted last November, 365 companies in the province expressed their intention to hire 950 Baby Boomers.
Gyeonggi Province plans to secure a project budget of 6.28 billion KRW this year to hire up to 2,000 people for Light Jobs, with the Gyeonggi Job Foundation entrusted to carry out the project.
Gong Jeong-sik, Director of the Social Innovation Economy Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Middle-aged people in our country retire from their main jobs at about 49 years old, the earliest age among OECD countries," adding, "Through new attempts differentiated from the existing full-time job support methods, we will expand sustainable jobs in the private sector that middle-aged people can enter."
