Daegu City announced on the 17th that, in collaboration with the Palgongsan National Park Eastern Office, it will operate a special Daegu City Tour route allowing visitors to enjoy Palgongsan for 1,000 won on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Sundays of each month from March to October.

This special route was planned as a collaborative project between Daegu City and Palgongsan National Park after its designation as a national park, aiming to discover the hidden charms of Palgongsan that we had not yet known.

The tour operates as a ‘Self Tour’ where visitors can enjoy nature and experiential programs while visiting historical Palgongsan landmarks, and a ‘Dama-Bam Tour’ connecting Palgongsan’s flagship species, the Korean marten, the Gunwi Amitabha Buddha Triad Grotto, and Hanbam Village.

The ‘Self Tour’ runs on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month, providing a great opportunity to directly experience Palgongsan’s historical value and cultural heritage.

Starting with the Bulrodong Ancient Tombs built during the Three Kingdoms period, the tour visits Donghwasa Temple founded in the Silla era, and Buinsa Temple, which enshrined the early Tripitaka Koreana. At Donghwasa Temple, visitors can experience volunteer militia archery, and at Buinsa Temple, they can try making rubbings of the inscribed tiles that serve as evidence of the enshrinement of the early Tripitaka Koreana.

The ‘Dama-Bam Tour’ operates on the 4th Sunday of each month and is designed as a course where visitors can directly see and experience Palgongsan’s terrain and climate.

Starting at the Kyungpook National University Museum of Natural History, where visitors can observe rocks, wildlife, and fossils, the tour continues to the National Treasure No. 109 Gunwi Amitabha Buddha Triad Grotto and then to Hanbam Village to admire its beautiful stone walls. This tour is designed to fully appreciate Palgongsan’s natural scenery and to raise awareness of the importance of protecting ecological resources.

All passengers on the special route will receive a small souvenir, and especially, the fare of 1,000 won promises a cost-effective and satisfying travel experience.
