Dobong-gu, Seoul's First to Open the 'Cloud Era'

Dobong-gu Migrates 26 Public-Facing Websites to Private Public Cloud
First Large-Scale Migration Among Seoul Districts... Achieves Both Faster Service and Enhanced Stability

Dobong-gu, Seoul's First to Open the 'Cloud Era'

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has transferred 26 public-facing website resources to a private cloud. With this migration, the district can now implement web services with faster speeds and greater stability.

The district announced that it has moved all related systems, including hardware and software necessary for operating 26 major websites and web services, including the Dobong-gu official homepage, to the private ‘G Cloud’ (NHN Cloud).

This is the fastest move among Seoul’s autonomous districts. It is the first time a Seoul district has transferred such a large-scale web service resource. A district official stated, “We expedited the website migration to proactively respond to the rapidly changing digital environment and to minimize service interruptions caused by disasters and emergencies.”

The government recommends activating cloud computing services for national institutions under the Cloud Computing Act and the Cloud Native Transition Roadmap (2024?2030).

With this cloud transition, the district can operate web services more flexibly. A district official said, “We plan to use the auto-scaling feature to minimize connection delays caused by increased users and provide fast services through expanded network bandwidth.” Auto-scaling refers to technology that automatically increases or decreases resources according to server user fluctuations.

The environmental benefits are also noteworthy. Now, there is no need to use 13 physical devices such as servers and switches required for server operation, which results in an annual reduction of 37.92 tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions.

Cost savings are also expected. When comparing the total cost of purchasing and maintaining equipment over six years with the total operating expenses for six years after migrating to the cloud, about 30% cost reduction can be achieved compared to the previous method.

Security has also been strengthened with the G Cloud transition. G Cloud is a public institution-exclusive cloud that has obtained Cloud Service Security Authentication (CSAP). Along with the cloud transition, the district also updated software to reduce security risks on websites while improving performance.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Although there was some burden in leading the public cloud transition among Seoul’s autonomous districts, we pursued the project to align with the digital transformation trend. Going forward, the district will expand cloud-based services and actively adopt the latest technologies to provide more convenient and innovative services to residents.”

Mapo-gu Dementia Safety Center Smartly Prevents and Manages Dementia

Utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) such as ‘Smart Mirror’ and Virtual Reality (VR) for Dementia Prevention and Daily Life Training

Launching ‘Happy Memory Search’ Campaign, Expanding Support for Dementia Treatment and Management Costs, and Conducting Outreach Screening Tests

Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) operates a dementia safety center year-round that smartly prevents and manages dementia by introducing various information and communication technologies (ICT) to create a dementia-free Mapo.

Since 2024, Mapo-gu has been operating a dementia prevention smart care program by introducing new ICT-based technology such as the ‘Smart Mirror’ at the dementia safety center.

The ‘Smart Mirror’ is a full-length mirror-shaped touch screen device composed of a sensor camera that can recognize movements and a walking pad with pressure sensors.

Users can easily follow various movements such as stretching while looking at their reflection in the mirror, helping maintain body balance. The center offers silver gymnastics, silver cognitive games, and walking programs using the ‘Smart Mirror.’

Other ICT-based programs include ‘Daily Life Training’ using virtual reality (VR) and group-type ‘Cognitive Intervention Programs’ conducted via tablet PCs.

‘Daily Life Training’ helps maintain cognitive abilities, boost confidence, and keep the brain and body healthy. The ‘Cognitive Intervention Program’ activates the brain, maintains functions, and plays an important role in dementia prevention and memory enhancement through social interaction.

Mapo-gu holds the ‘Happy Memory Search’ campaign at various locations within the district to overcome dementia, improve negative perceptions about dementia, and build community consensus.

On March 5, 2025, at 2 p.m., the ‘Happy Memory Search’ campaign will be held at Hanmaeum Children’s Park in Mangwon-dong.

At this event, attendees can receive dementia counseling and cognitive screening tests, and participate in various experiential activities aimed at dementia prevention and early detection. Any resident can participate without prior registration.

Additionally, to reduce the economic burden on dementia patients and their families, Mapo-gu expanded the eligibility for dementia treatment and management cost support from 120% to 140% of the median income (based on the individual’s health insurance premium) starting January 2025.

Selected beneficiaries can receive up to 30,000 KRW per month for medication and same-day medical expenses.

In 2024, 345 people participated in smart care programs such as the smart mirror and VR-based daily life training. The group-type cognitive intervention program was used by 1,463 people. Campaigns including ‘Happy Memory Search’ were held 14 times with 4,000 participants.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “Mapo-gu is leading the way in solving dementia issues through smart care using ICT and outreach screening projects. We will create a dementia-free Mapo by linking dementia prevention, early detection, and treatment.”

Dobong-gu, Seoul's First to Open the 'Cloud Era' Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, who attended the completion ceremony, is delivering a greeting.

"Children’s Safety First!" New Traffic Environment in Front of Jungmok Elementary School

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) held a completion ceremony on the 14th for the traffic environment improvement project in front of Jungmok Elementary School to ensure the safety of children and local residents while walking.

Since last year, the district has established a plan to install a crosswalk at the request of Jungmok Elementary School and proceeded with the demolition of the pedestrian overpass. Subsequently, comprehensive traffic facility maintenance was completed, including the installation of two traffic signals, ground-level traffic lights, and two-way speed enforcement cameras.

In particular, a child protection zone was designated, traffic signs were maintained, and a time-based speed limit was implemented (8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 30 km/h, 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. at 50 km/h) to strengthen traffic safety.

About 50 people, including Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, members of the National Assembly, Jungmok Elementary School officials, and residents’ autonomy committee members from Myeonmok 2-dong, attended the ceremony to reflect on the significance of the traffic environment improvement.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “We improved the traffic environment so that children can safely go to and from school. We will continue to do our best to create safe, pedestrian-centered streets.”
