Plantynet's subsidiary PlantyM announced on the 14th that it has appointed Vice Chairman Kim Jinhae (Plantynet Group COO) as CEO through a board resolution.
Vice Chairman Kim is a former Vice President of Samsung Electronics. He served as the head of mobile sales in Korea. He has experience contributing to raising the market share of Samsung Electronics' smartphone brand to over 80% in the domestic mobile market by establishing smooth partnerships with telecom operators. Since joining Plantynet, he has overseen the overall business operations of the group and led the market establishment of the new magazine platform business, "Mojin."
PlantyM plans to actively expand its business in 2025 based on the magazine platform Mojin, which launched its B2C service in July 2024. Mojin currently holds the number one market share in the B2B sector, mainly among domestic universities and public libraries. The B2C business also laid the foundation for growth by being adopted as an additional service by KT on January 20. For the B2C business, the company plans to expand its customer base through the future launch of dedicated subscription plans.
According to the company, the Mojin platform provides subscribers with perfectly personalized customized magazine content based on AI technology. It also plans to create a new ecosystem for the stagnating Korean magazine industry by linking media advertising and shopping mall platforms, providing new growth momentum.
PlantyM plans to expand cooperation with major domestic telecom companies in 2025 and accelerate Mojin's entry into the global market through partnerships with Plantynet's overseas subsidiaries and hardware (smartphones and other mobile devices) partners. Through this, the company expects to secure a stable customer base while enhancing the sustainability of its business.
CEO Kim Jinhae emphasized, "The Mojin business will provide new growth momentum to the stagnant Korean magazine industry and build a new ecosystem through cooperation with magazine associations and publishers, achieving a leap forward for the Korean magazine industry. We expect it to become a platform that contributes to the global spread of Korean content by providing high-quality content using refined magazine information."
He continued, "Based on Plantynet's strong telecom operator network and solid cooperation with major global smartphone hardware companies, we will continue to expand Mojin's business foundation. We have already prepared a thorough strategy to grow Mojin into Korea's representative content platform within three years, and we plan to make this year the first year of growth and execute it in earnest," expressing his aspirations.
