Gominjeong: "Lee Jae-myung, the Greatest Political Asset of the Democratic Camp... Strong Will for Unity"

"Lee Jae-myung and Kim Kyung-soo's Meeting
Opens the Way for Unity"

Democratic Party lawmaker Ko Min-jung described party leader Lee Jae-myung as "the person in our party with the strongest will for unity and the expression of diverse voices."

On the 14th, Ko said on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' "I have observed Leader Lee longer than the current leadership, so I can speak clearly," adding, "He was the one who most strongly said things like 'It's good to have different voices,' 'The Red Team (the team expressing opposing opinions within the organization) is absolutely necessary,' and 'We should not use the derogatory term Subak (a slur against the non-Lee Jae-myung faction).'" She expressed concern, saying, "However, I have seen these messages not spread but rather be frequently misinterpreted."

She emphasized that those who support Leader Lee should also follow his message of unity. Ko said, "Lee Jae-myung should be made not only the representative of the Democratic Party but a leader for the people," adding, "Because he is the greatest political asset of the democratic camp."

She continued, "To do that, the factions that like and want to work with Leader Lee must help spread his message of unity," and argued, "If the message does not spread downward, it will instead isolate Leader Lee."

Regarding the meeting the previous day between Leader Lee and former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo, considered a key figure in both the pro-Moon Jae-in (Chinmun) and non-Lee (Bimyeong) factions, she said, "The waterway for unity has been opened," but added, "However, for that waterway to reach a wider sea, it must open more broadly." She explained that the 'constitutional protection forces alliance' mentioned at the meeting meant "the two of them taking on the role of forming an alliance with external parties like the Joguk Innovation Party and the Progressive Party." However, when asked about the possibility of a merger with the Joguk Innovation Party, she replied, "A merger is difficult. It will be at the level of an alliance."
