Hwaseong-si Launches 5th Citizen Supporters Group for 'Women-Friendly City'

Proposal of Project Ideas and Monitoring of Gender Imbalance Factors

On the 12th, Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province held the appointment ceremony for the 5th term of the Women-Friendly City Citizen Supporters Group at the Modunurim Center.

The Citizen Supporters Group, consisting of 41 members including 16 from the western region and 25 from the eastern region, will participate for two years until December 27 of next year in activities such as proposing ideas for women-friendly city projects, monitoring inconveniences related to gender imbalance factors, urban infrastructure, and public facilities, and attending training and meetings to enhance their capabilities.

At the event, a commendation was awarded to Chun-ok Yeom, an outstanding supporter from the 4th term. This was followed by a keynote lecture on "Enhancing Gender Sensitivity" by Young-sook Son, Chairperson of the Seoul Gender Impact Assessment Committee, as well as education on the roles of citizen supporters.

Hwang Dang-yeon, Director of the Women and Multicultural Affairs Division of Hwaseong City, said, "We hope for the active participation and interest of the Women-Friendly City Citizen Supporters to promote gender equality policies befitting the city's status."

Hwaseong City has set five major goals: establishing a foundation for gender equality policy promotion, expanding women's economic and social participation, enhancing community safety, creating a family-friendly environment, and strengthening women's capacity for community activities, and is implementing various women-friendly city projects accordingly.
