On the 12th, Gwangju City signed its first investment promotion district agreement of the year with J Crocus Co., Ltd. at the City Hall Business Room.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Sanggap, Deputy Mayor for Culture and Economy of Gwangju City, Jang Dongok, CEO of J Crocus, Kim Youngjun, Vice CEO, and Lee Kyungju, President of the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, among others.

According to the agreement, J Crocus will relocate its headquarters from Seoul to Dong-gu, Gwangju, and actively promote the establishment of cultural content exhibitions, popup store spaces, and local talent recruitment. The city will provide active support for the company’s settlement, including administrative services related to investment, investment incentives, and infrastructure for cultural content.

Founded in Seoul in 2023, J Crocus specializes in exhibitions based on cultural intellectual property (IP), fan merchandise (goods) development, and immersive content creation. By relocating its headquarters to Jang-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju, the company plans to operate exhibitions utilizing local artists’ IP and sensory art popup stores.

The city expects that this agreement will not only attract a company but also have a positive impact on revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs. In particular, there is growing anticipation that J Crocus will present differentiated content leveraging Gwangju’s abundant cultural and artistic resources and local artists’ IP.

The city has been actively attracting cultural content companies from the Seoul metropolitan area and other regions by building strong content-based infrastructure, such as the Gwangju Realistic Content Cube (GCC), which boasts the nation’s largest video production equipment, the innovative talent training institution GCC Academy, and the region-specialized Asia Culture Centered City Development Fund. This year, the city also plans to operate corporate attraction briefings and preliminary inspection programs to allow companies to directly experience Gwangju’s excellent infrastructure.

Lee Sanggap, Deputy Mayor for Culture and Economy, emphasized, “The relocation of J Crocus’s headquarters will serve as a new driving force for the development of Gwangju’s cultural content industry and the local economy,” adding, “We will provide various benefits such as financial support, talent development, and infrastructure to relocating companies to vitalize the cultural content industry.”
