Regarding the rally against the impeachment of Yoon Sukyeol to be held this weekend, a civic group in Gwangju stated on the 12th, "The political intentions of the far-right insurrectionist forces will never succeed."

The Emergency Action stated, "Gwangju is the birthplace of the democratic spirit, where blood was shed to protect democracy against the illegal coup by military dictatorship forces in 1980," and argued, "The attempt by far-right insurrectionist groups to invade Gwangju is a political calculation to justify insurrection by exploiting the political symbolism of causing chaos in the heart of democracy, Gwangju."

They further emphasized, "The citizens of Gwangju will not allow the insurrectionist forces to politically defile the May 18 Democracy Square and Geumnam-ro, the heart of democracy."

The Emergency Action continued, "We appeal to the citizens of Gwangju. Please gather at Democracy Square and Geumnam-ro on the 15th," and urged, "Let us defend democracy in crisis through overwhelming unity and establish a foothold for a new Republic of Korea." They added, "The insurrection is not over. Change comes when we gather. We can protect it only if we gather."
