US PGA Tour 'Genesis Invitational' Opens on the 13th in San Diego

The Genesis brand, serving as the title sponsor, will participate in the PGA (Professional Golfers' Association) Tour tournament, the '2025 Genesis Invitational,' which opens on the 13th local time at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, USA.

The tournament, running until the 16th, features 72 players including world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, No. 3 Rory McIlroy, and No. 5 Hideki Matsuyama. This event is one of the eight prestigious 'Signature Events' on the PGA Tour, which are limited to select players.

This year, due to wildfire damage in Southern California, the tournament will be held at Torrey Pines Golf Course instead of The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, where last year's event took place.

During the tournament, Genesis will run the 'California Rise' campaign in collaboration with the PGA Tour and TGR Live to support wildfire relief efforts in California. Genesis has pledged to donate 100 operational vehicles worth approximately $7.5 million, including GV70 and GV80 models, to major relief organizations after the tournament concludes.

Additionally, a 'Birdies for Good' event will be held, raising $300 for every birdie or eagle and $10,000 for every hole-in-one to fund relief efforts.

Earlier, in January, Genesis donated a total of $200,000 to the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Fire Foundation, and through the California Rise campaign, they will provide additional vehicles and funds. In total, Genesis will contribute $8 million toward wildfire relief and community rebuilding in California.

Meanwhile, the total prize money for the 2025 Genesis Invitational is $20 million, with the winner receiving $4 million. In addition to the prize money, the champion will be awarded a Genesis GV70 as a trophy.

Genesis plans to showcase a total of 11 vehicles, including the electrified GV70 model, GV80, and GV80 Coupe, at key locations such as the Genesis Lounge and Genesis Skybox within the tournament venue to highlight their excellent product appeal to spectators and TV viewers across the United States.

Jose Munoz, CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, stated, "Southern California is a meaningful region as it houses the Genesis Motor America (GMA) sales office and design studio. Through the 'California Rise' campaign during this tournament, we aim to support the recovery and restoration of areas affected by wildfires."
