Jeollanam-do will provide temporary support for part of the feed purchase costs for small-scale Hanwoo cattle farmers in the region again this year, following last year. The total project budget is 7 billion KRW.
Jeollanam-do will temporarily support 540,000 KRW, which is 50% of the 1,080,000 KRW increase in feed costs, for farms with 60 or fewer Hanwoo cattle, to promote the rapid management stability of small-scale Hanwoo farms and the development of the Hanwoo industry. Out of approximately 16,000 Hanwoo farms in Jeollanam-do, about 13,000 farms (81%) are eligible for this benefit.
Park Hyunsik, Director of the Agriculture, Livestock and Food Bureau of Jeollanam-do, said, "While feed prices continue to rise for a prolonged period, the price of Hanwoo cattle at the farm has dropped, making management very difficult," and added, "To stabilize the Hanwoo industry, we are the only region in the country to provide reserve funds for two consecutive years despite challenging financial conditions."
Farmers wishing to receive support should contact their local city or county (eup, myeon, or dong office) and submit the required documents by the end of this month.
