The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will provide financial support to low-income and vulnerable households for replacing old home boilers with eco-friendly boilers.
On the 12th, Suwon City announced that it will support the cost of replacing home boilers installed before March 2019 with eco-friendly boilers, or replacing wood fuel, coal briquette, or oil boilers with certified LPG boilers in areas not supplied with city gas, for low-income and vulnerable groups.
Suwon City plans to support the replacement of a total of 128 units this year, allocating a budget of 76.8 million KRW.
Eco-friendly boilers emit about 77% less nitrogen oxides, one of the causes of fine dust, compared to regular boilers, and have about 10% higher energy efficiency.
Citizens who wish to participate in the project can check eligibility and other details by searching for "2025 Home Eco-friendly Boiler Replacement Support" on the ‘City News’ board on Suwon City’s website (www.suwon.go.kr), and then apply online (www.ecosq.or.kr/boiler) or by visiting or registered mail (Climate Energy Division, Air Environment Team, Suwon City Hall, 241 Hyowon-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon City).
A Suwon City official said, "Installing eco-friendly boilers reduces air pollutants and increases energy efficiency," and urged, "We hope many citizens will participate in the home eco-friendly boiler installation support project."
