Strengthening Story Search Nationwide in the First Half of the Year
Enhancing User Communication with the Introduction of a Comment Feature
Expansion of Short-Form Content Entry Points Planned for the Second Half of the Year
Used goods trading platform Danggeun is expanding the search function of its short-form content 'Danggeun Story' nationwide. A comment feature will also be added to further activate communication among users.
According to industry sources on the 12th, Danggeun plans to complete the expansion of the Danggeun Story search function to a nationwide level within the first half of this year. Until now, users could only view Danggeun Stories within the region they set, and even when using the integrated search function, that content was not included. However, after the revamp, users will be able to search for Danggeun Stories posted nationwide regardless of region.

With the search function expanded nationwide, there is a greater possibility that diverse information not limited to specific regions will be shared. For example, users can easily check special discount news from stores in other neighborhoods through Danggeun Story. Danggeun expects that this will allow users to quickly catch new trends. The comment feature introduced to Danggeun Story is also expected to make communication among users more active. To this end, Danggeun is reviewing changes to the user interface (UI), such as the location of the comment button and the way comments are displayed.
In the second half of the year, work will also be carried out to connect various functions within the app so that users can more easily access short-form content. A Danggeun representative said, "Currently, users can only view Danggeun Story through a specific menu. However, going forward, we plan to expand entry points so that Danggeun Story is naturally exposed in various areas," adding, "Rather than a large-scale overhaul, we will conduct continuous testing to check user responses and then sequentially apply new features."
The reason Danggeun is pushing these changes is that consumption of short-form content is rapidly increasing. According to a Korea Research survey in October 2023, 3 out of 4 people (75%) watch short-form content. Even among those aged 60 and over, 59% consume short-form content, and only 16% responded that their viewing time has decreased, indicating that the popularity of short-form content is likely to continue.
Danggeun Story has also seen a 60-fold increase in daily short-form uploads and a 24-fold increase in views in just over a year since its official launch. Short-form content is effective in increasing user visit frequency and lengthening dwell time. This aligns with Danggeun’s goal of establishing itself not just as a simple used goods trading platform but as a 'local lifestyle community service.'
