Hongseong County to Establish Reusable Container System through Public-Private Cooperation

Promoting Reusable Container Initiatives and Job Creation for Vulnerable Groups

Hongseong County in Chungnam Province has taken action to promote an eco-friendly lifestyle without single-use products while simultaneously creating job opportunities for vulnerable groups.

On the 11th, the county signed a three-party business agreement in the county governor's office with the Hongseong Regional Self-Sufficiency Center and Clean Environment Center Co., Ltd. to establish a reusable container system and create jobs for the underprivileged.

Under the agreement, Hongseong County will lay the foundation for promoting the reusable container initiative, while the Hongseong Regional Self-Sufficiency Center and the self-sufficiency enterprise Clean Environment Center Co., Ltd. will provide opportunities for job creation and training for vulnerable groups through the rental and cleaning of reusable containers.

As a pilot project, the Hongseong Regional Self-Sufficiency Center will support the free rental and cleaning of reusable cups for official use in the county office, Hongseong-eup, and Hongbuk-eup until May. This will help residents naturally adopt and normalize the use of reusable cups. Meanwhile, Hongseong County will assess demand in preparation for the full-scale implementation of the reusable container promotion project in the second half of the year.

Governor Lee Yongrok said, "With the participation of the Hongseong Regional Self-Sufficiency Center in establishing a support system and institutional foundation for expanding the use of reusable containers, we have created opportunities to vitalize self-sufficiency projects and provide stable job creation for self-sufficiency enterprises by promoting the use of reusable containers."
