The Busan Architecture Exhibition is a competition that discovers and awards outstanding buildings from the past five years, selecting buildings that have contributed to cultural development and design improvement in the city center as ‘BEST AWARD’ recipients.
‘The Park Igidae’ is a mixed-use development project that demolished the aging Busan Environmental Corporation staff housing and jointly developed 68 units of Happy Housing, 20 units of Busan Environmental Corporation employee housing, and the Nam-gu Office’s Life Second Half Support Center. The building consists of two towers, with one basement floor and 13 above-ground floors, covering a total floor area of 6,951㎡, and was completed in May 2023.
The building was designed under the theme of ‘A Maru (platform) capturing the wind, waves, and city of Igidae as one landscape.’ The facade of the lower and upper parts of the building was differentiated to create a new urban image. It was also developed as a new regional hub platform where local community members can interact and exchange diverse information.
Shin Chang-ho, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, said, “We are pleased that our efforts to innovate public building design have been recognized,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to contribute to the development of architecture and urban landscape in Busan.”
