On the 11th, the Iksan City Regional Child Center Council was held at Thebom, where educational programs linked with local care institutions such as regional child centers were introduced.
Based on the results of this pilot operation, the city plans to offer a variety of programs starting next month, including ▲workshops ▲webtoons ▲cheerleading ▲horticulture, and will continue to improve the quality of Thebom by collecting participant feedback and expanding both the programs and participation opportunities.
Furthermore, Thebom was established to present an educational model that goes beyond simple after-school education and connects with the local community. Thebom is located in a newly constructed community facility built through the Namjung-dong Urban Regeneration New Deal Project and provides quality educational courses to local elementary students by utilizing resources from Wonkwang University, a higher education institution.
The city expects that Thebom will not only help identify children in need of care but also provide students with learning opportunities and relieve parenting burdens for parents, serving as an effective alternative.
In addition, the city plans to strengthen the linkage of local resources such as educational institutions and regional care organizations to establish a sustainable educational model.
Han Inkyung, Director of the Education and Youth Division, stated, "We will spare no effort to support more students in receiving quality education through the Education Development Special Zone project," adding, "We will do our utmost to expand educational opportunities for local students and foster future talent through the special zone."
Meanwhile, Iksan City was selected last year as the first pilot leading area for the Ministry of Education's Education Development Special Zone project and will carry out 26 projects with a total budget of 22.9 billion KRW over three years. The city will also establish an educational cooperation organization to utilize local universities' educational resources for students and promote educational innovation through related projects.
Through these efforts, Iksan City aims to provide quality education from early childhood to university and create a virtuous cycle system that nurtures local talent.
