Kiwoom Securities Obtains Patent for Kiwoom Herojeon Yield Calculation... "Enhancing Investment Information Value with Accurate Computation"

Kiwoom Securities announced on the 11th that its flagship service, the real investment competition ‘Kiwoom Herojeon,’ obtained a patent last month. Kiwoom Herojeon, launched in March 2023, currently has about 270,000 participants in domestic competitions and about 150,000 participants in overseas competitions as of January this year.

The core of this patent is the profitability calculation formula independently developed by Kiwoom Securities. It significantly improved the method of calculating the investment return rate for specific products among various products within a comprehensive account. Unlike the previous return rate calculation, which included or excluded the entire held amount outside the target stocks in the investment principal, only the minimum amount necessary for holding and trading the target stocks is included in the investment principal from that amount. This new profitability calculation method allows for accurate measurement of participants’ performance in real investment competitions like Kiwoom Herojeon.

Kiwoom Securities grants qualification to participate in the Hero Decision Battle to the top 200 participants by asset size in domestic competitions and the top 100 in overseas competitions through monthly regular matches. Only 51 investors in 2023 and 126 in 2024 qualified for both domestic and overseas competitions. This is why the informational value of the Kiwoom Herojeon service, based on investment performance by stock type, is inevitably high.

With the patent acquisition recognizing the reliability of the return rate, the Kiwoom Herojeon service has steadily grown and has been used as a platform for investment information. Starting with 126,000 participants in domestic competitions and 62,000 in overseas competitions in March 2023, the number of participants in Kiwoom Herojeon has more than doubled over the past two years.

The return rates of domestic competition winners have consistently been high since the service opened. In 2023, the highest return rate in Kiwoom Herojeon’s history was 7094.7% (August, 1 million KRW competition), and there was also an investor who recorded a return rate of over 800% in the 10 million KRW competition (August) with a large asset size. The highest return rate in the 2024 regular matches also exceeded 1000%.

In the case of overseas competitions, the increase in the highest return rate and highest profit in 2024 compared to 2023 is remarkable. The highest return rate of 1108.33% and the highest profit of 2.72 billion KRW in the 2024 overseas competition were similar to the levels of domestic competitions. The increase in the number of participants in the competition appears to have encouraged the participation of skilled overseas stock investors.
