From Laptops to Smartphones in 3,000 Vehicles
Introducing DeX and Knox to Enhance Work Efficiency
Samsung Electronics announced on the 10th (local time) that it supplied more than 10,000 Samsung Galaxy S series smartphones to the Chicago Police Department last year.
The Chicago Police Department has been collaborating with Samsung Electronics since 2018. Samsung Electronics provides the Chicago Police Department with mobile devices, Samsung DeX PC experience, and Knox security technology, and since the second half of last year, it has also supplied Galaxy Tab tablets and related solutions to the Chicago Fire Department.
The reason the Chicago Police chose Galaxy smartphones is that officers can quickly and easily switch between mobile and PC experiences using Samsung DeX inside police vehicles. They use smartphones on the field and utilize DeX like a PC in the vehicle, improving work efficiency and productivity such as report writing.
Dennis Baliga, Deputy Director of IT Infrastructure at the Chicago Police Department, said, "Thanks to Samsung DeX, we replaced laptops installed in 3,000 vehicles with 10,000 Galaxy S series smartphones," adding, "This will greatly enhance officers' work efficiency."
Additionally, the Chicago Police revealed that by using the enterprise security platform 'Samsung Knox Suite,' they reduced the time required for smartphone setup by 75% compared to three years ago.
