Men's Team Sprint Wins Silver in Speed Skating
Kim Junho Takes Bronze in 500m, Kang Donghoon Earns Bronze in Snowboard Big Air
At the 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games on the 10th, the Korean delegation added one silver medal and two bronze medals without winning any gold medals. One silver and one bronze came from speed skating, and one bronze was won in snowboarding.
So far, Korea has won 11 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals, maintaining 2nd place overall behind the host country China, which has collected 21 gold, 18 silver, and 15 bronze medals. Japan is in 3rd place with 4 gold, 4 silver, and 9 bronze medals.
Kim Junho, Cha Mingyu, and Cho Sanghyuk collaborated to win the silver medal in the men's team sprint speed skating event held at the Heilongjiang Ice Training Center Oval in Harbin, China, finishing second with a time of 1:20.48 behind China (1:19.22). The bronze medal went to Japan (1:20.72).
The team sprint is a race where three athletes each skate three laps around a 400m track.

Kim Junho also won a bronze medal earlier in the men's 500m event. He finished third with a time of 35.03 seconds, behind China's Gao Tingyu (34.95 seconds) and Japan's Morishige Wataru (34.97 seconds). Kim Taeyoon, who also competed alongside Kim Junho, placed 8th (35.22 seconds), and Cho Sanghyuk finished 10th (35.26 seconds).
Kim Junho earned a total of three medals in this competition, having also won a bronze in the 100m event on the 8th.
No medals were won in the women's 3000m. Park Jiwoo achieved the best result for Korea, finishing 5th (4:16.82). Kang Sumin placed 7th (4:20.50), and Jeong Yuna came in 11th (4:27.68).
The bronze medalist in snowboarding was high school student Kang Donghoon, who competed in Big Air. Kang Donghoon scored 158.75 points in the finals held at Yabuli Ski Resort, finishing third behind China's Yang Yuanlong (193.25 points) and Zhang Xinze (160.25 points). Kang Donghoon earned his second bronze medal of the competition, having previously won bronze in the men's slopestyle on the 8th.
Korean snowboarding saw 2006-born peers Lee Chaewoon and Kang Donghoon win gold and bronze medals respectively in slopestyle, with Kang Donghoon adding a bronze in Big Air.
Big Air is an event where athletes perform aerial tricks after launching off a large jump, while slopestyle is judged based on height, rotation, technique, and difficulty on a course composed of various features and jumps.
In the women's Big Air event, Yoo Seungeun narrowly missed a medal, finishing 4th with 119.25 points. Choi Seowoo placed 5th (85.25 points).
In the men's 10km freestyle cross-country skiing, Byeon Jiyoung recorded the highest ranking among Korean athletes, finishing 11th (22:16.5). Jeong Jongwon (22:26.1), Lee Geonyong (22:55.4), and Lee Junseo (22:56.3) placed 12th to 14th respectively.
The women's curling team, considered gold medal contenders, dominated Thailand 14-0 in a round-robin match at the Pingpang Curling Arena. Having defeated Taiwan and Japan the previous day, the women's curling team achieved three consecutive wins in the preliminaries.
The men's ice hockey team lost 1-2 in a comeback defeat against the powerhouse Kazakhstan, who are aiming for their third consecutive championship, in the final 5th group stage match of Group A at the Harbin Ice Hockey Arena.
Korea finished the preliminary round with 4 wins (including 1 overtime win) and 1 loss, earning 11 points and advancing to the quarterfinals in 2nd place behind Kazakhstan, who had a perfect 5-0 record with 15 points. The quarterfinal matches will begin on the 11th.
