Goryeong-gun Takes Active Steps to Secure Government Budget and Resolve Local Issues

Visit to the National Assembly
to Request Support Including National Funding

On the 10th, Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, visited the National Assembly to secure the budget for major projects of the 8th term of the local government and to resolve regional issues.

This visit was carried out to actively respond to the prolonged economic recession and secure local finances, especially to request the inclusion of necessary national funds during the government supplementary budget formulation, thereby laying the foundation for regional development and supporting major projects to establish the city infrastructure as a ‘World Heritage City’ and the ‘Ancient Capital of Daegaya.’

On the day at the National Assembly, County Governor Lee Nam-cheol visited the office of National Assembly member Jeong Hee-yong and emphasized the necessity of major regional projects such as ▲the construction of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Industrial Safety Experience Education Center ▲designation of a specialized distributed energy area

▲improvement projects for living conditions in vulnerable rural areas ▲designation (attraction) of ‘Goryeong Station’ on the Dalbit Railway ▲promotion of projects related to Goryeong as the ‘Ancient Capital (Godo) of Daegaya,’ actively requesting national funding and support.

A Goryeong-gun official stated, “Although the financial conditions are poor, we plan to do our best to select public contest projects and secure national funds through organic cooperation with the National Assembly,” adding, “We will smoothly promote major county government projects by securing more budget and take a step forward as a competitive local small city.”
