Chungnam Civic Group Urges Governor Kim Tae-heum to Stop Protecting Insurrection Leaders

Chungnam Civil Society Organizations Solidarity Council Calls for Stable Provincial Administration

Chungnam Civic Group Urges Governor Kim Tae-heum to Stop Protecting Insurrection Leaders The Yoon Seokyeol Regime Resignation Chungnam Movement Headquarters is holding a press conference at the Chungnam Provincial Government Office on the 10th.

The Chungnam Movement Headquarters for the Resignation of the Yoon Sukyeol Administration and the Chungnam Civil Society Organizations Solidarity Council have urged Kim Taeheum, Governor of Chungnam Province, to immediately halt his efforts to arrange a meeting with President Yoon Sukyeol.

The Chungnam Movement Headquarters for the Resignation of the Yoon Sukyeol Administration, the Chungnam Civil Society Organizations Solidarity Council, the Chungnam Environmental Movement Federation, the Yesan-Hongseong Environmental Movement Federation, the Chungnam Provincial Party of the Progressive Party, Hongseong YMCA, and others held a press conference at 11 a.m. on the 10th in the briefing room of the Chungnam Provincial Government. They stated, "It has been reported in the media that the four governors of the Chungcheong region, including Kim Taeheum, are attempting to arrange a meeting with Yoon Sukyeol, who is accused of being the ringleader of an insurrection. This is an attempt to pressure the Constitutional Court to reinstate Yoon Sukyeol, deceiving the residents of Chungnam and abetting an insurrectionist crime," they criticized.

They continued, "Due to Yoon Sukyeol's illegal martial law and insurrectionist crimes, the rights of all citizens are being violated, and extreme chaos is being caused in all areas of politics, economy, and society. Yoon Sukyeol, who should be severely punished as the ringleader of the insurrection, is instead rallying far-right supporters, plotting riots like the incident at the Western District Court, and repeatedly giving false testimony in court in an attempt to evade punishment," they asserted.

Yoo Heejong, head of the Sejong-Chungnam Headquarters of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, said, "Fortunately, nothing happened because the people who long for democracy took the lead in preventing martial law. Even though all the circumstances showing that Yoon Sukyeol was preparing for martial law have been thoroughly reported by the media, he continues to deny everything. Lawmakers from the People Power Party who defend him, the four metropolitan heads of the Chungcheong region including Governor Kim Taeheum, and those who are still attempting to arrange a meeting with Yoon Sukyeol are further fueling confusion in this country," he criticized.

Woo Samyeol, co-representative of the Chungnam Civil Society Organizations Solidarity Council, stated, "It is unreasonable that Yoon Sukyeol, who is charged as the ringleader of an insurrection, is still holding the presidency and that major local government heads are attempting to meet him. We already know through media reports and various investigations how unfounded, delusional, and unconstitutional the martial law declaration was."

He added, "Governor Kim Taeheum should, as he initially did, firmly maintain his stance against such unreasonable martial law, and do his utmost to run the provincial administration stably for the many citizens and residents who are anxious," he emphasized.
