Gwangyang Steelworks and YMCA Hold 'Special Volunteer Service' for Local Youth

Talent Volunteer Group Hosts Experience Booths with the Next Generation

The POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director: Ko Jaeyoon) Talent Volunteer Group carried out a special volunteer activity for local youth at the Gwangyang Youth Culture Center in Jungma-dong, Gwangyang City, together with Gwangyang YMCA on the 8th, spreading warmth throughout the community.

This event was organized by Gwangyang YMCA to celebrate its 19th anniversary and to support the hopeful futures of local underprivileged youth, as well as to share the value of giving with the community. The Gwangyang Steelworks Talent Volunteer Group also joined the event to encourage the youth.

More than 400 people, including members of the Gwangyang Steelworks Talent Volunteer Group, officials from Gwangyang YMCA, and local underprivileged youth, participated in the event.

Six talent volunteer groups operated experience booths at the festival: Haneebaram Balloon Art Talent Volunteer Group, Maumeum Flower Arrangement Talent Volunteer Group, Food Truck Talent Volunteer Group, First Aid, Ppeongtwigi Talent Volunteer Group, and Calligraphy Talent Volunteer Group. These booths offered a variety of experiences and attractions to the youth and citizens attending the festival.

The first aid education, aimed at creating a safer local community, also received a great response. The Gwangyang Steelworks First Aid Education Talent Volunteer Group prepared a dummy mannequin resembling the human body to realistically simulate emergency situations and taught visitors accurate CPR techniques.

A local youth who participated in the talent volunteer group experience booths said, "I am grateful to the volunteers who came to support and encourage our futures. I will work hard to grow into a citizen who can help my neighbors even more than the help I have received."

A representative of the Talent Volunteer Group said, "It is meaningful to be able to participate in an event supporting our future generation, the youth. We will continue our sharing activities to walk alongside neighbors from various backgrounds as members of the local community."
