Youth Sports and Cultural Exchanges

Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 10th that officials from Satsumasendai City, Japan, an international sister city, visited from the 5th to the 7th for a preliminary inspection related to the export and import of agricultural products, processed goods, and timber.

Since signing the international sister city agreement in May 2012, Changnyeong-gun and Satsumasendai City have strengthened their friendly cooperative relationship through mutual benchmarking in administrative fields, youth sports and cultural exchanges, and reciprocal visits between the Changnyeong Cultural Center and the Satsumasendai Cultural Council.

This exchange was arranged as a follow-up to the first consultation held in October 2024 in Satsumasendai City, Japan, where both cities exchanged opinions on the export and import of agricultural and processed products. The visiting delegation conducted on-site discussions by visiting agricultural export farms, processing companies, and large supermarkets within Changnyeong-gun.

In particular, the officials from Satsumasendai City showed interest in major agricultural products produced in Changnyeong-gun such as onions, garlic, and paprika, as well as various processed goods from the region, sharing meaningful discussions directly with local stakeholders on site. They also expressed their intention to visit Changnyeong-gun again during the Canola Flower Festival in April to continue export-import consultations.

County Governor Seong Nak-in welcomed the visit of the Satsumasendai City officials, saying, “I hope that the cooperation can expand beyond administrative, cultural, and sports exchanges to include export and import cooperation of agricultural and processed products,” and added, “I look forward to achieving good results as soon as possible.”
