The purpose of this meeting was to establish a "Yeongam-type Integrated Care Model" that enables Yeongam residents to receive necessary services where they live and maintain independent living, as well as to take the lead in the implementation of the "Act on Integrated Support for Regional Care such as Medical and Nursing Care," scheduled for March 2026.

At the meeting, the status survey conducted by the Jeonnam Social Service Institute was presented as a preliminary step to building the Yeongam-type model. From October 29 last year to February 28 this year, a survey and in-depth interviews were conducted with about 700 local seniors over 75 and registered people with disabilities to identify their needs and support requirements for independent living.

According to the survey results, seniors cited the most urgent and important services for continuing to live at home as: ▲ support for rescue linkage in case of emergency ▲ mobility support ▲ family-based care ▲ regular check-ins.

People with disabilities responded that they need ▲ support for rescue linkage in case of emergency ▲ regular health check-ups ▲ mobility support ▲ regular dental care ▲ customized nutritional support, among other services.

In addition, the Jeonnam Social Service Institute reported a high rate of chronic diseases among seniors and people with disabilities and highlighted the need for ▲ improved medical accessibility and mobility support ▲ emotional care and mental health support ▲ expansion of care diversity.

Governor Woo Seunghee stated, "This year, the county established an Integrated Care Promotion Team for community-based integrated care. We will build a Yeongam-type integrated care model reflecting the results of this status survey," and added, "We will promote integrated care involving the community with the Integrated Care Support Team as the control tower."
