Ulsan City Receives President's Award for Excellence in Establishing Integrated Defense Posture

The Only Metropolitan and Local Government Selected as an Outstanding Institution

Ulsan City will receive the Presidential Award as an outstanding institution in the "2024 Integrated Defense Posture Establishment" category at the 58th Central Integrated Defense Meeting held at the Government Seoul Office at 2 p.m. on the 10th.

This award is the only Presidential Institutional Commendation given among all metropolitan and local governments nationwide.

Last year, the Integrated Defense Headquarters recognized Ulsan City’s active efforts to establish and strengthen the regional integrated defense posture during an on-site inspection conducted on 46 institutions including the military and local governments.

Ulsan City received excellent evaluations in areas such as △ updating integrated defense regulations △ operating the integrated defense support headquarters △ sharing video information through the integrated control center △ and the civil air defense alarm system.

In particular, to ensure organic operational execution, the city revised integrated defense regulations by modernizing the joint operations room composed of military, police, and fire departments, and improving the convening of the integrated defense council. For the first time in the Hwarang training, Ulsan promoted a post-management integrated situational response drill for nuclear and WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) led by local government heads, creating a practical opportunity to establish an integrated defense posture.

Mayor Kim Du-gyeom stated, “To proactively respond to the rapidly changing security environment, we will strengthen a solid cooperation system among civilians, government, military, police, and fire departments with a strong security awareness centered on institutional heads, and establish a firm integrated defense posture.”

Ulsan City plans to hold a local integrated defense meeting in March to maintain close cooperation among related organizations such as civilians, government, military, and police, and to improve emergency preparedness capabilities.
