"Yonsei Essay, No Leak on DC" One Person Using ChatGPT Referred to Prosecution

The police have concluded that the test questions related to the Yonsei University early admission essay exam leak case were not leaked to any specific online community.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Public Crime Investigation Unit announced on the 9th that one test-taker, who took photos of the pre-distributed exam paper due to a supervisor's mistake at the time of the incident and attempted to solve it using ChatGPT, was sent to prosecution without detention on charges of obstruction of business at the end of last month.

It is known that the test-taker was caught after posting on DC Inside that they had used ChatGPT after the exam ended.

However, the ChatGPT solutions were incorrect, and the test-taker was found to have failed the exam.

The police conducted a search and seizure of DC Inside, which was pointed out as the platform where the questions were leaked, and identified eight individuals who wrote related posts. However, except for the one person sent to prosecution, the other seven were cleared of charges. The police explained, "It was confirmed that the seven posted photos taken after the essay exam time had ended online," adding, "It is difficult to apply obstruction of business charges."

Meanwhile, this incident began last October at the Yonsei University natural sciences early admission essay exam venue, when the exam papers were distributed and then collected about an hour before the exam started due to a supervisor's error. This led to legal disputes between the test-takers and the university, and an unprecedented additional exam was held in the history of college admissions.
