Gwangju City and 21 Companies Sign Investment Agreement Worth 164.9 Billion Won Gwangju Mayor Kang Gijeong is taking a commemorative photo after signing an investment agreement with 21 companies in Gwangju's core strategic industries such as automobile, artificial intelligence (AI), energy, and medical industries at the City Hall Business Room on the afternoon of the 7th. On the 7th, Gwangju City signed investment agreements (MOUs) with 21 key strategic industry companies?including those in the automotive, artificial intelligence (AI), energy, and medical sectors?at the City Hall Business Room. Through these agreements, the city expects to attract investments totaling 164.9 billion KRW and create approximately 750 new jobs.


The signing ceremony, jointly hosted by the city and the Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority, was attended by Mayor Kang Gijung, Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority Commissioner Sun Seokgi, AI Industry Director Choi Taejo, and representatives of the investing companies.


The companies participating in the investment agreements include 19 domestic firms (13 from Gwangju and 6 from other regions) and 2 international firms (1 from the United States and 1 returning to Korea), totaling 21 companies.


By industry, there are 9 companies related to AI convergence R&D, 5 automotive-related companies including auto parts and vehicle equipment manufacturing, 3 energy companies including ESS (Energy Storage System) manufacturing, and 4 others in fields such as medical beauty, optical devices, and refrigeration equipment manufacturing.


Mayor Kang Gijung stated, "I sincerely thank the companies that have decided to invest in Gwangju despite the challenging economic situation. I hope this investment agreement will play a significant role in helping Gwangju emerge as a core industrial hub. We will provide our utmost support so that investing companies can grow as leaders in future industries and contribute to the development of the local community."


Meanwhile, Gwangju City is striving to create a favorable investment environment by providing customized information and services for companies, including resolving obstacles, administrative and financial support, and addressing difficulties from the investment attraction stage to ensure smooth settlement of investing companies.
