[Concall] LGU+ to Monetize AI Call Agent 'Iksio'... Announces Restructuring of Low-Profit Businesses

LG Uplus plans to partially monetize its AI call agent service 'ixi-O' and carry out restructuring of low-profit businesses.


At the Q4 2024 earnings conference call held on the 6th, Kang Jin-wook, Head of Mobile and Digital Innovation Group (Senior Executive Director) at LG Uplus, stated, "We plan to monetize some services such as call history storage to establish a revenue model." He added that the goal is to expand ixi-O subscribers from the current 170,000 to 1 million by the end of the year.


Launched in November last year, ixi-O is an AI-based service offering features such as answering calls on behalf of users, real-time voice phishing detection, call recording, and summarization. LG Uplus customers using iPhone 14 or later devices can currently use the service for free. Kang explained, "Ultimately, it will evolve into a 'Personal AI Agent' optimized for individuals based on customer data, providing a differentiated customer experience."


On the same day, Yeo Myung-hee, CFO of LG Uplus, stated, "Based on the 2025 AX (AI Transformation) centered business strategy, we plan to secure future growth engines by strengthening core technological capabilities and expanding AI application areas." She added, "We will focus more on profitability by boldly restructuring low-profit businesses lacking competitiveness and self-sustainability," emphasizing, "Low-profit businesses will be reorganized by the first half of this year."
