Up to 600,000 KRW for Households with Children Aged 24 to 48 Months
Relatives Within the Fourth Degree or Neighbors Living Together for Over One Year Eligible
Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 6th that it will provide a 'Family Care Allowance' to caregiving helpers such as relatives to prevent childcare gaps in dual-income families.
The program targets households in Osan City with children aged between 24 months and under 48 months. As of the application date, both the caregiver (father or mother) and the child must be registered residents of Osan City. Approximately 193 households are eligible for support.
Caregiving helpers must be relatives within the fourth degree of kinship or neighbors living in the same eup, myeon, or dong as the child.
The support condition requires the caregiving helper to provide care for at least 40 hours per month (with a maximum of 4 hours recognized per day). For one child, up to 300,000 KRW per month is paid; for two children, up to 450,000 KRW per month; and for three children, up to 600,000 KRW per month. If there are four or more children, support is provided for up to two caregiving helpers.
There is no household income criterion, and families experiencing childcare gaps such as dual-income households can apply. Applications are accepted from the 1st to the 10th of each month and may close once the budget is exhausted.
Caregivers can apply collectively by obtaining a power of attorney from the caregiving helper through the 'Gyeonggi Minwon 24' website. Once selected as a caregiving helper, they must register as a member on the 'Gyeonggi Lifelong Learning Portal (GSEEK)' and complete mandatory training on infant safety, child abuse prevention, and other topics before starting caregiving activities.
Lee Gwon-jae, Mayor of Osan City, said, "Through this support program that alleviates the childcare burden on dual-income families, we will create an environment where children can grow up safely and healthily."
