Lecturer Jeon Hangil, who has been raising the 'election fraud conspiracy theory' against the National Election Commission (NEC) and attending rallies opposing the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol, will visit Geumnam-ro in Gwangju on the 15th.

Jeon announced on his YouTube channel the previous day, "One million conscious and active citizens from Gwangju and across the nation will gather together to rebuke the unjust Constitutional Court justices and bring about a decision to dismiss President Yoon's impeachment."

He added, "Let us make this a turning point where President Yoon and Prime Minister Han Ducksoo both return, Korea is normalized and unified again, and the nation takes a new leap forward."

He continued, "Please become the true protagonists who hold the sovereignty of Korea and make history together with us," and emphasized, "Regardless of left or right, I urge all citizens who wish to save Korea to join the rally against impeachment."

Finally, Jeon quoted famous sayings from Dosan Ahn Changho and Plato, and referenced the late former President Kim Dae-jung's statement, "A conscience that does not act is on the side of evil." This phrase was published in an advertisement at the bottom of the front page of the Dong-A Ilbo on March 8, 1975, when former President Kim was fighting against the Yushin dictatorship.

The upcoming rally attended by Jeon is organized by the conservative Protestant group Save Korea. They submitted a rally notification to the police, announcing their plan to hold an anti-impeachment rally for President Yoon in the Geumnam-ro area of Dong-gu, Gwangju, at 2 p.m. on the 15th. According to the organizers, about 1,000 people are expected to attend the rally that day.

Previously, at a Save Korea rally held in Busan on the 1st, Jeon claimed, "President Yoon's martial law declaration last December was an enlightenment order that awakened the people of Korea."

In response, the civic group Citizens' Action for Judicial Justice (Sasehaeng) filed a complaint against Jeon on charges of inciting rebellion and defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act. Sasehaeng stated, "Jeon has repeatedly carried out unjust attacks against certain Constitutional Court justices and denied the legitimacy of the impeachment trial itself, thereby justifying public disobedience and violence against the Constitutional Court in the event of President Yoon's impeachment being upheld."

Meanwhile, on the same day as the anti-impeachment rally, a rally demanding President Yoon Suk-yeol's immediate resignation and major social reforms, organized by the Gwangju Emergency Action for Impeachment, is scheduled to take place at the May 18 Democracy Square. The police are closely monitoring the situation to prevent clashes between pro- and anti-impeachment groups.
