Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, will start towing shared electric scooters that are left unattended from this month. This is the first case among basic local governments in the Incheon area.
The district will tow electric scooters within 30 minutes after a warning if they are found in emergency towing zones such as roads, bicycle lanes, subway station entrances, and braille blocks. In general towing zones, including regular sidewalks, a grace period of about 2 hours will be given.
A towing fee of 20,000 KRW per scooter and a storage fee (approximately 1,000 KRW per 30 minutes) will be charged for the impounded electric scooters.

Currently, three shared electric scooter companies operate a total of 3,700 scooters in the Yeonsu-gu area. The district began pilot enforcement last November as indiscriminate parking of electric scooters infringed on residents' pedestrian rights and increased the risk of safety accidents.
An official from Yeonsu-gu stated, "As the number of electric scooter users rapidly increases, cases threatening pedestrian safety are also rising, so we will strengthen enforcement," and urged, "Please follow the personal mobility device usage rules well to create a pedestrian-friendly environment."
